College Essay Draft (J#10)

Seasons change from cold snow, to green grass, to blazing sun, to dry leaves, and the back again to cold snow. Alongside the seasons are shopping trips. Shopping, on the other hand, is a hobby and an addiction that plays a part in all seasons. I’m not sure that seasonal shopping best fits my personality choice; but I’m definitely not the addicted character. Nevertheless, I enjoy the aspects of planned therapeutic trips and outfit decisions. Organized, consistent, and reliable; I’m the “planner” type who takes the time to plan things out. My personality is something I can review and be proud of its progression. The following is season shopping in its relative form; me.

In this world there are a lot of choices left to be chosen and decisions yet to be decided. One thing is for certain, everything can still change. Transformed stores are just as varied as ongoing friends. Even if things keep rearranging; I don’t have to worry about stores leaving or friends abandoning. I can be very friendly when meeting a new person but their dependency is the characteristic I search for the most. Friends can be trustworthy but until disappointed, I treat them with respect.

Throughout the year there are fashion statements being made to fit seasonal attire. You have the scarves, berets, and boots for the winter look, the cardigans for fall wear, tees and tanks for summers season, and casual flip-flops for spring apparel.

Winter is my favorite season because it is the giving and receiving time of the year. Plus, there are major cute outfits for this season. I can honestly say Christmas is the best time of the year; so full of life, excitement, and enough magic to paste on a permanent smiling face. I love singing Christmas songs because you don’t really need the ability to sing to participate in carols. I’m not talented in the art of singing but in the art of self-esteem, I definitely fit the part. I don’t concern myself with what people say about me. As long as I am totally satisfied with who I am I don’t need any take in other people’s remarks or comments.

Spring is the time for the casual tanks and shorts but let’s not forget the flip-flops for the season. I’m Catholic and that means God is my only Savior. Religion is an argumentative and controversial issue but in any debate, I’m persistent in finding a true answer until I’m proven definite wrongness. Even to the extent of being embarrassed and ending up totally wrong, I will stick to what I know, then, learn what’s right. I am big on my pride but I’m proud enough to accept losses.

Summer is when bikini’s, tanks, and shorts come into affect. Living in Hawaii during summers reign can get boiling hot but it makes the perfect day for an outing to the beach. I remember going to the beach few times a month for no reason but to take up the days worth and make an occasion. Life has yet to throw so much into my life but that doesn’t mean I stop to wait for its next sent mail. I use up each day as special as if it were my birthday. My personality takes upon each given opportunity and, like a sponge, absorbs every ounce of received chances.

Fall is the time for upgrades or updates under the sophisticated, maturing section. When I was younger, I wanted to grow up as fast so I could experience the honor of driving, the luxury of earning my own money at a job, and the lust and infatuation of having a boyfriend but now that I’m closer to those things; I wish I could rewind back to when I was a kid and had nothing to worry about. As the age numbers grew so did the number of worries taken on. Everybody has idols growing up. My idols were found in books; the teens, the heroes, and the good-doers. They all have such great enthusiasm and are so sure of themselves. Also, music artists reflect and influence my life. If there words can really catch my attention and make me say, “I can so relate to this” then I know these songs have that meaning that, in the future, will be very valuable. I try to follow the life lessons in books, music, and sometimes even television shows, and practice them.

The seasons have made its way around the year. What have you accomplished this year? You have passed through all seasons with fashionable clothing and great style. Plus, you got down some great planning tips for this coming years’ round of trends!

My book was Ophelia Speaks & it was a perfect "coming of age" theme. The book talked about adolescent girls going through the tough situations life throws at them. Girls in Ophelia Speaks come from a troubled past and a past they have learned & grown from. Rape, drugs, suicide, eating diorders, etc., have become the bumps and hills of a teenagers life. This book shows "coming of age" because these girls have experienced things and grew up from it. They are people who used their past to become the women they are today. They grew to be strong, understanding, and independent women. Yet, they will never forget their past.
An example from the reading is the part on Self-Inflicted Wounds. A anonymous writer wrote Insomnia which was about her struggle going through self-destruction and how she is now warning other students or teens to not go that path. To her, it was a path of lonliness & sadness.

I want to go to a college on the West Coast. The East Coast is just too far from home. The state I prefer the most is Washington. A college of my interest is Washington State University or University of Washington. Seattle has been my dream getaway so I was also thinking about Seattle University. I love the cold weather & I just want to be somewhere comfortable. My major really varies because there are soo many ooptions right now in my life. These colleges just offer so much pus summer programs I may be interested in.
